India has officially opened the WAVES Bazaar Bharat Pavilion at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) 2025, held during the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea. This Pavilion, inaugurated on September 20 and running until September 23, shines a spotlight on India’s creative economy and innovative media technologies.

Organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and the Embassy of India in Seoul, this initiative aims to establish India as a major player in global content creation. The Pavilion showcases Indian cinema, television, and digital storytelling, paving the way for new partnerships and co-productions.

The event featured notable figures, such as Kang Sungkyu from the Busan Film Commission and members from the British Film Institute and Italian Trade Agency. Indian dignitaries, including Prithul Kumar and Nishi Kant Singh, attended, along with celebrated filmmakers like Arfi Lamba and Tannishtha Chatterjee, who helped highlight Indian creativity on an international stage.

The Pavilion serves as a key platform for:

– Displaying Indian films, stories, and digital content to global buyers.
– Facilitating meetings between Indian and international producers and distributors.
– Exploring new domains like animation, VFX, gaming, and immersive storytelling.

Experts emphasize that India’s growing influence in the content economy makes initiatives like WAVES Bazaar essential for connecting Indian creators with global markets.

According to a report from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the Indian media and entertainment sector is expected to reach ₹2.23 trillion (approx. $30 billion) by 2024, showcasing significant growth opportunities. With the WAVES Bazaar Bharat Pavilion at BIFF 2025, India reinforces its commitment to global collaboration and aims to strengthen its position in the international media landscape.
