Bhubaneswar: Indian Railways has launched two new Amrit Bharat Express trains that will enhance travel across Odisha. These services cater to passengers by connecting various districts, making it easier for students, workers, and traders.
The first train, the Kamakhya-Charlapalli Weekly Amrit Bharat Express, links the northeast to the south of India. It will stop in key Odisha districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda, and Ganjam, before heading to Andhra Pradesh cities like Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam. This train departs from Kamakhya every Sunday and from Charlapalli every Wednesday.
The second service, the Podanur (Coimbatore)-Dhanbad Amrit Bharat Weekly Express, connects Tamil Nadu to eastern India. Passengers traveling from southern India can conveniently visit coal belt regions. This train will travel through Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and several districts in Odisha before departing from Podanur every Saturday and from Dhanbad every Monday.
These Amrit Bharat Express trains are built with advanced German-designed LHB (Linke-Hofmann-Busch) coaches. They prioritize safety and speed, operating at 160-200 km/h. The stainless-steel construction features anti-telescopic technology, which minimizes damage during accidents.
Passenger comfort has also been improved with better seating and luggage space. The transition to these modern coaches is part of Indian Railways’ effort to modernize its fleet, gradually replacing older ICF coaches on major routes.
