Valley City State University is set to host its annual Wellness Fair on Wednesday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center. The fair is free and open to everyone.

This year, attendees can look forward to exciting door prizes, interactive activities, and valuable wellness information from 27 different organizations. Sponsored by Essentia Health, Sanford Health, and CHI Mercy Health, the event is a great opportunity to learn about healthy habits that can enhance both mental and physical well-being.
A highlight this year is the return of the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services, which will offer free and confidential HIV testing. Participants who take part in the testing will receive a coupon for a free drink at Viking Grounds.
In addition to testing, there will be various health screenings and fitness assessments. Participants will also have the chance to win prizes like workout gear and gift cards.
VCSU employees who attend will benefit too. By participating in the Dakota Wellness Program, they will earn a voucher for a special event.
Many notable organizations will be present, including:
– Abused Persons Outreach Center
– Bismarck Cancer Center
– Central Valley Health District
– ND Department of Health and Human Services
– Valley City Green Dot
– VCSU Counseling Services
This gathering not only promotes healthy living but also offers community resources aimed at improving overall wellness.
Interestingly, according to a 2022 survey by the American Psychological Association, nearly 80% of adults reported that maintaining their physical health positively impacts their mental health as well. Events like the Wellness Fair play a crucial role in reinforcing these connections within the community.
