LAMPASAS, Texas — The Lampasas City Council and the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) recently met to discuss the future of the Lampasas Business Park. This area has remained mostly empty and is costing the city around $7 million.
During the meeting, local leaders and residents had the chance to share their thoughts. Eddie Bowden, a member of Forward Lampasas, noted that the turnout was impressive for community participation. “Everyone in that room had something to say. It was one of the best meetings I’ve seen for engagement,” he said.
Martha Noell, also from Forward Lampasas, pointed out that many attendees were businesspeople and real estate agents who expressed interest in the area’s potential. Their insights highlighted the need for a variety of uses for the business park.
For nearly two decades, the EDC has been working with the business park but hasn’t seen it reach its full potential. Now, leaders are considering shrinking its size and possibly selling parts of the land that haven’t attracted any development.
While no decisions were made during the meeting, it paved the way for continued collaboration between local leaders and the community. Noell added, “Though change can be tough, this meeting allowed us to come together and find a new direction for progress, preparing for potential growth.”
The business park covers over 140 acres, with 46 acres developed and linked to essential utilities like water, sewer, and electricity. Moving forward, both the city council and the EDC plan to assess Lot 4, the undeveloped section, to see if it can support future projects.
