Join a panel of scientists and artists for an engaging discussion about fungi and their role in our ecosystems. The Treseder Lab from UC Irvine will share insights on how fungi connect different life forms and ecosystems. They will also explore the connections between art and science in their current exhibition, “Future Tense: Art, Complexity, and Uncertainty.” The exhibition emphasizes the complex webs of life and their interconnectedness.

Artists from the Beall Center’s Black Box Projects, including the collective Cesar & Lois, will showcase their work on how fungi interact with the environment. They aim to highlight fungal respiration and bioelectric signaling through their art.

Panelists will include experts like Dr. Kathleen Treseder, with researchers Eduardo Misael Choreno Parra and Melanie Taleen Hacopian. David Familian, serving as the artistic director of the Beall Center, will guide this conversation, along with CSUSM’s own Professor Lucy HG Solomon and UNICAMP’s Professor Cesar Baio. Together, they promise a thought-provoking exploration of the planet’s ecosystems.
