COLUMBIA, Mo. – Kyle Bogner, the head diving coach at Mizzou, will retire at the end of the semester. This announcement was made by head coach Andrew Grevers and the Mizzou swimming and diving programs.
Bogner has spent the last seven years with the Tigers. His final season was notable as he coached Collier Dyer, who became the team’s first-ever NCAA diving champion.
“Kyle’s influence on our program goes well beyond his coaching skills,” Grevers remarked. “He has mentored many athletes. Collier’s journey from 44th place last year to being crowned NCAA Champion this March highlights the mental and emotional training Kyle provides. He’s leaving Mizzou at the peak of his career, and we’ll always appreciate the legacy he leaves behind.”
During his time with the Tigers, Bogner helped eight divers achieve All-American status and consistently qualified at least four divers for the NCAA Championships each season. Before moving to Mizzou, he was the head diving coach at Wyoming for four years and started his journey at New Mexico State.
As he steps away from coaching, Bogner looks forward to a new chapter in Montana. He and his family will lead the Wilderness Intensives program for Mountain Gateway, a Christian nonprofit that trains missionaries in the backcountry.
“After much thought and prayer, I’ve chosen to retire from coaching,” Bogner shared. “We have a wonderful opportunity that fulfills our dreams, and we’re excited to move to the mountains.”
Bogner expressed gratitude to Coach Grevers for welcoming him into the Mizzou family seven years ago. He praised Grevers’ unwavering support of diving, which he believes significantly contributed to the team’s success.
As Mizzou looks ahead, the community reflects on Bogner’s impactful legacy—a blend of technical coaching and deep connection with the athletes, setting a high standard for the future. Coaches like Bogner remind us that success is about more than just numbers; it’s about the relationships we build and the lives we touch.
