Indian wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat is taking his skills to new horizons. After not being picked at the IPL 2025 auction, he has signed with Dulwich Cricket Club in London. This move marks an exciting chapter for the 31-year-old as he joins the club for the 2025 Surrey Championship.
Bharat has previously played for multiple IPL teams, including Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals. Despite his talent, he didn’t attract bids at the recent auction, even with a base price of INR 75 lakh.
He made seven Test appearances for India when regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant was sidelined. Unfortunately, Bharat struggled to capitalize on these opportunities, scoring only 221 runs at an average of 20.09, with his highest score being 44. His last Test was against England in February 2024, a challenging ending to his brief stint in international play.
On Instagram, ‘CricX – The Cricket Exchange Agency’ celebrated his move, highlighting his experience in Tests, including appearances in big matches like the World Test Championship final in 2023. Dulwich Cricket Club, fresh from their promotion to the Premier Division, is eager for Bharat to bring his expertise to their lineup and inspire fellow players.
Despite the setbacks in IPL and international cricket, Bharat has continued to shine in domestic competitions. Recently, he scored an unbeaten 107 against Meghalaya in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He also had impressive innings of 86 and 64 against Services and Rajasthan, respectively. His last Ranji Trophy match featured scores of 52 and 43 against Rajasthan, showcasing his enduring talent in first-class cricket.
In his overall first-class career, Bharat has accumulated 5,686 runs in 105 matches, with 10 centuries and 32 fifties. Additionally, he has impressive numbers in List-A and T20 formats, too, demonstrating his versatility as a player.
KS Bharat’s journey reflects the ups and downs athletes often face. While he navigates this transitional phase, his move to a respected club like Dulwich shows resilience and adaptability. It’s a reminder that even when the limelight dims, there are always new opportunities to shine.
