Gauchos Triumph Over Utes in Thrilling Day Two of Ed Collins Classic at UCSB!

SAN DIEGO – The No. 45 UC Santa Barbara Men’s Tennis team scored another win in the Ed Collins Classic, beating No. 55 Utah 4-1.

Match Highlights
The day started strong for the Gauchos in doubles. Lucca Liu and Diogo Morais quickly won their match 6-2 on court two. The Utes managed a counter with a 6-2 win over Conrad Brown and Charlie Underwood. However, the Gauchos clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory from the duo of Gianluca Brunkow and Dominique Rolland.

In singles play, Dominique Rolland continued to impress, winning in straight sets and giving the Gauchos a 2-0 lead. Though Utah’s Berk Bugarikj pulled one back with a 6-2, 6-4 win over No. 43 Gianluca Brunkow, Matei Gavrea increased the lead again with a 7-5, 6-4 win at the sixth position. Diogo Morais sealed the match for UCSB with another straight-set victory.

Meanwhile, both Charlie Underwood and Lucca Liu were locked in tough third-set battles when the match ended. Underwood was down 0-3, and Liu was tied 1-1, but they didn’t need to finish since the Gauchos had already clinched the win.
