IUP’s Playoff History

IUP is making its 18th appearance in the PSAC Tournament since 1973 and is looking to reclaim glory after last winning the championship in 1990. Last year, they battled against East Stroudsburg but were eliminated. As of now, East Stroudsburg leads the series with 15 wins to IUP’s seven.

The Warriors show great form, entering the tournament with a 35-13 overall record, ranking second in their division. They’ve been PSAC Tournament runners-up in the last two seasons, proving tough competition with notable offensive stats.

IUP’s Current Season

IUP has an overall record of 24-25, with a respectable 17-11 in PSAC West play. Their head coach, Steve Kline, a former Major League pitcher, holds a career record of 117-94. After a shaky start, IUP turned things around, finishing strong with a 21-8 record later in the season, including a 10-game winning streak.

In terms of individual performances, several players have stood out:

  • Davin Landers (catcher) boasts solid numbers, contributing significantly to the team’s defense and offense.
  • Elijah Dunn (outfield) ranks high in home runs and slugging percentage. He stands out in both single-season and career home run records for IUP.
  • Ricardo Aponte (outfield) returns as an All-PSAC Second Team member with impressive batting stats.

This championship season offers IUP an exciting opportunity to showcase their growth and to aim for their first conference title in over three decades. Fans are encouraged to follow the team’s journey through social media for live updates.
