Grand Canyon University Lopes Dominate East Texas A&M to Maintain Unbeaten Streak!

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is off to a strong start this season, winning all four of their matches so far. Their latest victory came on Friday night when they swept East Texas A&M with set scores of 25-11, 25-13, and 25-19.

The Lopes showcased their skills and teamwork, hitting an impressive .363 as a unit and racking up 49 kills. Senior outside hitter Anaelena Ramirez led the charge with 10 kills and a .391 hitting percentage. She also contributed three digs and an ace. Freshman Aubrey Bellus made an impact too, hitting .667 with four kills.

GCU’s depth was a key factor in their win. Coach Kendra Potts expressed excitement about the strength of her entire roster, highlighting the contributions of players like Briley Decker, who had five kills and six assists. The team displayed a strong defensive effort, with Natalie Guerrero securing 12 digs.

The Lopes started the match aggressively, pulling ahead quickly with an early 11-0 run. This set the tone, as they maintained control throughout. Potts noted, “It’s all about the depth. It’s a long season, and it takes every single person on the roster.”
