Grant Fisher Shatters 3K World Record at Millrose Games 2025 – A Historic Victory!

Grant Fisher made headlines by breaking the world record in the 3,000 meters at the 2025 Millrose Games, clocking an impressive 7:22.91. He surpassed defending Olympic champion Cole Hocker, who finished just behind him at 7:23.14. Both runners outperformed the previous record of 7:23.81, set by Ethiopia’s Lamecha Girma in 2023.

Fisher’s incredible performance also broke the American record of 7:28.23, held by Yared Nuguse since 2023. He had previously ranked third in the U.S. all-time standings behind Galen Rupp.

In addition to Fisher and Hocker, Jimmy Gressier finished strong in third place with a new French national record of 7:30.18, while Ky Robinson took fourth, setting an Australian national record at 7:30.38.

Now holding both the indoor American records for the 3,000m and 2 miles, Fisher is gearing up for his next challenge: the 5,000m American record at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invite on February 14. To break that record, he needs to beat his teammate Woody Kincaid’s time of 12:51.61, achieved in 2023. Fans can watch the event live on FloTrack.

The Millrose Games kicked off at 11:10 AM on Saturday, February 8, beginning with the men’s distance medley relay and culminating with the NYRR Men’s Wanamaker Mile at 5:50 PM.
