WINONA, Minn. – Winona State University is bidding farewell to Eric Schoh, who has been the athletic director since 2012. His tenure officially ends today.
Under Schoh’s guidance, Warrior Athletics has shown a strong commitment to both academic achievement and community involvement. The average GPA for student-athletes is an impressive 3.43, higher than the general student body average of 3.28 and the second highest in the university’s history. Furthermore, the NCAA Federal Graduation Rate for the Warriors stands at 78%, placing them first in the NSIC and 22nd among 316 institutions in Division II.
On the field, the Warriors have upheld their reputation as fierce competitors, claiming numerous regular season and conference titles. Many teams have also advanced to the NCAA postseason, including sports like football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, track and field, softball, gymnastics, and golf.
Schoh has been recognized for his contributions, receiving the WCGA North Central Administrator of the Year award in 2023. He was also honored as the Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year in 2015.
Jon Olson, Vice President for University Advancement and Executive Director of the Winona State Foundation, will take over leadership of Athletics while the search for Schoh’s successor is underway.
