The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, recently inaugurated 103 revamped Amrit Stations, including Haibargaon Railway Station in Assam. This initiative is part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aiming to modernize Indian Railways and improve regional travel.
During the event held in Rajasthan, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s commitment to infrastructure growth, announcing projects worth ₹26,000 crore. Over the past 11 years, the railway system has seen remarkable changes, including the introduction of Vande Bharat trains, which have nearly 70 routes boosting national connectivity.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw noted that more than 34,000 km of new railway tracks have been laid, unmanned crossings have been eliminated, and the electrification of the railway system is nearly complete. The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme will modernize over 1,300 stations, with more than 100 already finished, focusing on blending local heritage with modern facilities.
Haibargaon station is designed to be more than just a stop; it aims to be a lively city hub, offering amenities tailored for all travelers, including features for those with disabilities. The design reflects Assam’s rich culture while prioritizing modern conveniences.
Dignitaries like Assam’s Governor, Lakshman Prasad Acharya, and ministers from various departments were present, highlighting the importance of this development for Assam and the northeastern region.
