Halliburton recently secured a contract from Petrobras for integrated drilling services in Brazil’s offshore fields. This contract follows a competitive selection process and spans three years, covering both development and exploration wells.
As part of this contract, Halliburton will use its iCruise® intelligent rotary steerable system (RSS). This technology aims to improve efficiency by shortening well construction time and ensuring precise well placements. Additionally, the LOGIXTM platform will enhance consistency in well construction.
To better position production boreholes and understand reservoirs, Halliburton will deploy EarthStar®, its ultra-deep resistivity service. This technology helps in mapping the complex underground structures.
In offshore drilling, the management of drilling fluids can be a challenge. Halliburton plans to tackle this by utilizing its BaraLogix® service, which uses real-time data and advanced analytics to minimize lost time.
Other exclusive technologies include Cerebro® in-bit sensing, along with the Reservoir Xaminer™ service. This innovative option helps identify structural complexities in the reservoir, allowing for smarter drilling decisions.
Waldomiro Mendes, Halliburton’s senior area manager in Brazil, highlighted that this contract showcases the company’s capabilities in deep-water drilling and well construction.
Expected to commence in 2025, this contract marks Halliburton’s largest engagement with Petrobras. It significantly enhances their drilling services in both pre-salt and post-salt areas of Brazil.
