Denver’s Nikola Jokic is making history by achieving an average triple-double for the season. This remarkable feat puts him in an exclusive club with just two other players: Russell Westbrook and Oscar Robertson.

Jokic’s milestone was confirmed during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies. He recorded his 700th assist, solidifying his average of at least 10 assists across the season. Jokic’s impressive stats include scoring 26 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and dishing out 12 assists in the same game, which also marked his 34th triple-double of the season.
Westbrook accomplished the triple-double average four times, while Robertson did it just once in the 1961-62 season. Jokic is now on track to also achieve a career-high in scoring, potentially reaching a 30-point average, which would make him the third player in NBA history to do so alongside Westbrook and Robertson.
Jokic’s ability to create opportunities for his teammates is a game-changer. Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch highlighted this strength, noting that Jokic’s playmaking skills lead to excellent scoring chances for others. This season, Jokic has also set career records for three-pointers made and shooting accuracy from beyond the arc.
What’s truly astonishing is that Jokic has more triple-doubles this season than all but three players combined. With his current trajectory, he could finish the season with over 30 triple-doubles, a mark only Westbrook has hit multiple times. Currently, Jokic ranks second all-time in regular-season triple-doubles, trailing Westbrook’s 203.
As fans and analysts buzz about his achievements, social media is alive with discussions about Jokic’s unique skill set and the future of basketball. His talent not only elevates his performance but also inspires the next generation of players who look up to him as a role model.
In a league that continues to evolve, Jokic stands out not just for his stats but for his vision and leadership on the court. As he pushes boundaries, the basketball world watches closely, eager to see what he will accomplish next.
