India Concludes 2025 World Boxing Championship with Thrilling 6-Medal Victory Over Brazil!

Hyderabad: The Indian boxing team made a remarkable debut at the Elite level international competition organized by World Boxing. They returned home with six medals, showcasing their skill and determination. This event took place at the World Boxing Cup in Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil, and it marked a significant achievement for Indian boxing.

Hitesh made history as the first Indian boxer to win a gold medal in the World Boxing Cup. His opponent, Odel Kamara from England, was unfortunately unable to compete in the final due to injury, allowing Hitesh to secure the top spot in the 70kg category.

Another standout was Abhinash Jamwal, who fought valiantly in the 65kg final against local star Yuri Reis. Although he put up a strong fight, he ultimately took home a silver medal.

The team also celebrated four bronze medal wins. Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (50kg), Manish Rathore (55kg), Sachin (60kg), and Vishal (90kg) each contributed to the team’s impressive medal tally.

Hitesh credited the team’s success to a 10-day training camp in Brazil before the tournament. He shared, “The camp helped me learn some tactical skills that were crucial during the competition. This tournament has given us great exposure to the top levels of boxing, and I’m thrilled to have won gold.”

India sent a 10-member team to this championship, marking their first major international appearance since the Paris Olympics. Their success at the World Boxing Cup not only boosts their confidence but also sets a promising tone as they begin preparing for the 2028 Olympic cycle and the upcoming Los Angeles Games.

According to recent statistics from the Boxing Federation of India, the performance at this tournament aligns with a broader trend of increasing support and investment in boxing programs across the country. This change is expected to strengthen India’s presence in the global boxing arena in the coming years. As boxing continues to grow in popularity, more young athletes are likely to step into the ring, inspired by the successes of their peers.
