A year ago, a former receiver from Texas set a new record for the fastest 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine. Now, Isaiah Bond aims to do it again this Saturday.
“I’m going to break the record tomorrow — for sure,” Bond confidently stated at a press conference. He’s hoping to clock in at 4.20 seconds, or even 4.1 if he’s really on fire.
Last year, Xavier Worthy broke the record with a time of 4.21 seconds. Bond has been training hard and has previously tested at 4.23 seconds.
“I’ve been running my whole life. I’ve always been one of the fastest around,” Bond shared. “When practice meets preparation, greatness happens. I trust my training and plan to put on a show.”
Bond, who turns 21 on March 15, transferred from Alabama to Texas in 2024 to study under coach Steve Sarkisian after Nick Saban’s retirement. He wanted to learn from one of the best offensive coaches in college football.
In 2024, he made a strong impact on the field, catching 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed four times for an additional 98 yards and a touchdown.
Bond believes his unmatched speed sets him apart in this year’s draft class. “There’s not a receiver out there that has my speed. But it’s more than just speed — I’m a complete receiver. My routes are top-notch. Just watch the tape,” he said.
Across 41 college games at Alabama and Texas, Bond recorded 99 receptions for 1,428 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’s ready to show what he can do and hopes to make a lasting impression at the combine.
