Join Apple’s Groundbreaking Health Study: Here’s How You Can Participate!

Apple has kicked off an exciting new health study aimed at exploring how technology can enhance physical and mental health. This project, which may be expanded over its five-year span, plans to gather data from various Apple devices like iPhones, AirPods, and Apple Watches to help monitor users’ health.

The study will delve into various health topics, such as physical activity, aging, heart health, cognitive functions, hearing, menstrual health, and sleep patterns. Calum MacRae, a Harvard Medical School professor and the study’s lead researcher, highlighted that we’re just beginning to understand how technology can deepen our grasp of health.

This study is a significant move for Apple, marking its first major health initiative since 2019. In the last few years, Apple has conducted other prominent studies, such as the Apple Women’s Health Study and the Apple Hearing Study, gathering extensive data from over 350,000 participants nationwide. Insights from these studies have already influenced Apple’s product development, leading to innovations like the new clinical-grade hearing aid feature in AirPods Pro 2.

If you’re interested in participating, it’s completely voluntary. You can select the types of data you wish to share and can withdraw at any time. To join, you’ll need an iPhone 6s or later with iOS 15 or newer. Then, simply download the Apple Research app from the App Store to enroll, manage your preferences, and complete related surveys.
