Join Conan O’Brien at SXSW: Discover His Hilarious Desire to Star in the Next ‘Diablo’ Video Game!

Did you know that Conan O’Brien got into gaming 15 years ago? He often plays with comedian Bill Hader. Recently, at SXSW, he joined Blizzard Entertainment’s president, Johanna Faries, on stage.

Faries didn’t reveal any big plans for Blizzard’s upcoming games. However, she and Conan noted how passionate gamers are and emphasized the importance of listening to them. Entertainment companies are now taking the gaming industry seriously.

O’Brien reflected on his early days in showbiz. “Back then, it was all about reaching as many people as possible,” he said.

“Now, it’s more about connecting with people who truly care about what I do,” he added. His approach is more focused, targeting a specific audience instead of just a large one.

When discussing his gaming fans, O’Brien mentioned, “It feels like I’m connecting with a special community.”

He shared a story about visiting South Korea. “I saw kids screaming, and later found out it was because of gaming videos,” he recalled. “This connectivity through games is something special.”

O’Brien joked about often choosing avatars like a wizard or demon in games. He playfully asked other players, “What do you think of Conan O’Brien?”

He humorously expressed his desire to appear in the game Diablo, saying, “I want to be a demon or necromancer. My wife thought I was a necromancer when we met!”

“If I’m in Diablo, players will quickly decide if I live or die,” he quipped.

Faries replied, “Don’t worry, we’ll get the writers on this.”

Faries highlighted the growing audience for online video games, saying it rivals Super Bowl viewership in global interactivity. This shift is why more entertainment leaders are getting involved in gaming.

She also praised Blizzard’s new partnership with Microsoft, sharing how grateful they feel for this collaboration.

Faries concluded by saying, “Having a partner who encourages creativity is essential. We’re excited to be a part of this.”
