iNDICA NEWS BUREAU-

On a bright September morning, people from the Indian community, local residents, students, and professionals gathered in Maryland for the Viksit Bharat Run 2025. This event took place on September 28, organized by the Embassy of India in Washington, D.C., alongside MY Bharat and India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. It celebrated community spirit, fitness, and sustainability.

The run was part of a global initiative, extending to over 150 locations worldwide. It aimed to foster a sense of unity among Indians living abroad, making it one of the largest community events led by India. This year’s event coincided with Seva Pakhwada, a two-week campaign from September 17 to October 2, dedicated to selfless service and national growth.

Participants came together under the theme “Run to Serve the Nation.” This was more than just a race; it embodied a collective duty and shared vision for a developed India by 2047. The strong turnout showed deep ties to India’s developmental goals and support for a brighter future.

In addition to promoting fitness, the event emphasized environmental awareness through the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. A tree was planted at the Jain temple in Maryland, illustrating the connection between personal action and global sustainability. This initiative echoed the values of India’s Swadeshi movement, showing how historical values can inspire modern practices.

Recent surveys reveal that over 70% of Indian-Americans prioritize sustainability and social responsibility in community engagement. This highlights a growing trend among the diaspora to not only stay connected to their roots but also contribute to the greater good of society.

The Viksit Bharat Run 2025 wasn’t just a display of solidarity with India’s journey; it also reflected a global Indian community committed to nation-building, environmental care, and a hopeful future. Such events foster connection and promote a shared identity, illustrating the ongoing evolution of the Indian diaspora.
