Calling all barbecue lovers! The University of Guam Cooperative Extension and Outreach is back with another BBQ Bootcamp. This is a great chance to sharpen your grilling skills and learn some new techniques.
After a successful workshop in August that centered around Boston butt, this bootcamp will explore Texas-style pulled pork, Chinese lamb kebabs, and the local favorite, tinala’ katne. You’ll be learning from Dr. Jeng-Hung Liu, a meat and animal scientist at UOG, who knows his way around the grill.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Texas-style Pulled Pork and Chinese Lamb Kebabs
- Date: Saturday, March 15
- Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Cost: $40
- Beef and Pork Tinala’ Katne
- Date: Saturday, March 29
- Time: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Cost: $40
This bootcamp includes both lectures and hands-on practice. You will learn how to salt and season meats, properly hang and dry meat for tinala’ katne, and prioritize food safety throughout the cooking process.
At the end of each session, enjoy a delicious BBQ meal featuring what you’ve made, along with red rice and pickled vegetables.
To secure your spot, pay $40 at the UOG Agriculture and Life Sciences Building, Room 105. You can make your payment in cash or by check to Glenda Hall during weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
