St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Edmonds is stepping up to fight food insecurity. They have organized a popup food distribution event on Wednesday, April 9, from 3-4 p.m. This is a great opportunity for anyone in need to get free food.

The church will offer fresh produce, meat, and prepackaged items, thanks to the Edmonds Food Bank. Visitors can freely choose the items they need. This approach reflects a growing trend where community organizations aim to give people dignity in choosing their food.

Look for the food distribution truck parked on the church’s north side at 21405 82 Pl. W., Edmonds—right by the Five Corners roundabout. Signs will guide you from 212th Street and 84th Avenue West.

In addition to the popup event, St. Alban’s has a “Blessings Food Pantry” open all day. This pantry allows the community to take what they need and also donate food, fostering a spirit of generosity. Community members can support one another, which has become increasingly important during these tough times.

Interestingly, a recent survey from Feeding America revealed that 1 in 8 people faced food insecurity in the U.S. This program at St. Alban’s not only addresses this issue but also promotes community spirit and collaboration. By encouraging people to participate, the church is helping create a more resilient community.

Through initiatives like these, churches and local organizations are not just providing food; they’re building connections and support systems that can uplift entire neighborhoods.
