Join Us on April 28: Community Unites for an Empowering HIV Prevention Event by NAESM!

NAESM, an organization dedicated to supporting those living with HIV, is hosting “NAESM PrEP University” on April 28 at the Loudermilk Center in Downtown Atlanta. This vibrant event aims to bring together nonprofits, historically Black colleges and universities, healthcare providers, and state officials to discuss HIV testing and prevention in a lively atmosphere.

The event is designed like a college pep rally, complete with music, live performances, and fun educational activities. The goal? To make HIV testing and the importance of PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) more approachable.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., attendees will be treated to breakfast, lunch, inspiring guest speakers, and informative sessions about accessing PrEP. There will also be community exhibits offering essential resources and chances to network. Plus, those who download the NPOWER265 app, geared toward Black, same-gender-loving men in Atlanta, can enter a raffle.

The excitement doesn’t end there! The Kiki House Ball will follow from 7 p.m. to midnight at the same location, giving attendees a chance to celebrate.

Why is this event needed? Recent statistics show that awareness and usage of PrEP are crucial in reducing HIV rates. According to the CDC, PrEP can lower the risk of getting HIV by up to 99% when taken consistently.

Registration for NAESM PrEP University is free and available on the NAESM website. This gathering not only aims to educate but also to empower the community, making a positive impact on public health.
