Join Us to Honor the Lives of 4 Pepperdine Students Tragically Lost in Malibu Car Accident

A remembrance event for four Pepperdine University seniors who tragically lost their lives in a car accident will take place this Friday, marking two years since the incident. The event will be hosted at the PCH Ghost Tire Memorial located at Pacific Coast Highway and Webb Way, from 4 to 5 p.m.

The gathering honors Niamh Rolston, Peyton Stewart, Asha Weir, and Deslyn Williams. Family members have joined together for a meaningful project: creating memorial benches at Point Dume, a spot cherished by Asha. Each bench will feature plaques with QR codes that link to digital memorials, including Asha’s own poem, “For a Moment of Peace.”

The benches symbolize a space for reflection and remembrance of the four young women whose lives were cut short. They were all members of the Alpha Phi sorority and were 20 or 21 years old at the time of the accident.

On October 17, 2021, a speeding driver hit parked cars on the side of Pacific Coast Highway, which then struck the students. The driver, Fraser Michael Bohm, faces serious charges, including murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

At the remembrance, attendees will honor the victims with a moment of silence, the release of four white doves, and musical tributes. There will also be an invitation for attendees to share their memories.

In the wake of this tragedy, there’s a growing conversation about traffic safety, especially on busy roads like the Pacific Coast Highway. Groups like Streets Are For Everyone and Fix PCH advocate for improved road safety to prevent such incidents in the future. According to a recent Stanford study, accidents involving speeding drivers increased by over 20% in the last two years.

Each of the four victims had bright futures ahead. Rolston was a business administration major, Stewart focused on international business, Weir studied English writing, and Williams pursued pre-med biology. They were remembered for their dedication, kindness, and the positive impact they had on those around them.

This event serves not only as a tribute but also as a call for community safety and awareness to ensure that such a tragedy does not happen again.
