Residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa counties are urged to participate in the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. This annual event encourages locals to fill bags with healthy, nonperishable food items. Simply leave your filled bag next to your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up. The food collected will support Manna Food Bank and other local charities, helping families, seniors, and veterans in need.
Stamp Out Hunger is the largest one-day food drive in the U.S. Each year, it provides millions of meals to those facing food insecurity. The donations collected in our area will assist five local food pantries, directly impacting those who need it most.
Dede Flounlacker, Executive Director of Manna Food Bank, emphasizes the importance of this drive. “Every donation matters. Each item helps us support our neighbors in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties,” she shared. This shows that community efforts indeed have a significant effect on local lives.
Participants should have received a white Stamp Out Hunger bag, but any bag will do. Fill it with items like canned chicken, tuna, vegetables, fruit in 100% juice, whole-grain cereals, and peanut butter. Please avoid donating glass containers or homemade items. Make sure to place your bag next to your mailbox before your mail is delivered on that Saturday, May 10.
By joining this initiative, you’re helping support Manna Food Bank, Feeding the Gulf Coast, and other local organizations like ACTS Ministries and We Care Ministries. Together, we can make a difference in our community.
To understand the impact, consider this: recent studies have shown that about 11% of households in Florida experience food insecurity. By donating, you contribute to a solution that promotes health and well-being within our community. Help us continue this important mission by making a donation!
