Josh Allen Named AP NFL Most Valuable Player: A Triumph for the Buffalo Bills Star!

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Josh Allen has won the AP NFL Most Valuable Player award, narrowly beating Lamar Jackson in an exciting race. This is the tightest competition for the MVP title since 2016.

Allen led the Buffalo Bills to their fifth consecutive AFC East title. He received 27 first-place votes and tallied 383 points overall. He also earned 22 second-place votes and one third-place vote.

Lamar Jackson, who guided the Baltimore Ravens to their second straight AFC North championship, finished close behind with 362 points. He received 23 first-place votes and 26 second-place votes, along with one fourth-place vote.

In third place was Eagles running back Saquon Barkley with 120 points. Following him were Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow with 82 points and Lions QB Jared Goff with 47 points.

Allen’s season stats were impressive. He passed for 3,731 yards and threw 28 touchdowns, with only six interceptions. His passer rating stood at 101.4. Additionally, he ran for 531 yards and scored 12 rushing touchdowns, making him the first player in NFL history to achieve at least 40 total touchdowns in five straight seasons.

Jackson also had a fantastic year, setting personal highs with 4,172 passing yards and 41 touchdowns against just four interceptions. His passer rating of 119.6 led the NFL, earning him 30 first-place votes and a spot on the AP first-team All-Pro list.

Historically, the last first-team All-Pro who didn’t win the MVP award was back in 1987. That year, John Elway won the MVP while Joe Montana took the All-Pro honors. The MVP award is about overall value during the season, while the All-Pro recognition highlights statistical achievements.
