KS Bharat Joins English Club Cricket: Indian Wicket-Keeper Batsman’s Exciting New Journey

Indian cricketer KS Bharat is making a bold move to revive his career. He’s set to join the Dulwich Cricket Club in London for the 2025 Surrey Championship season. This opportunity comes as Bharat seeks to strengthen his position in the red-ball format of cricket, where he has faced challenges securing a spot on the Indian national team.

With an impressive first-class record, Bharat has scored 5,686 runs, including ten centuries and 32 fifties in 105 matches. Despite this, his path back to international cricket seems uncertain. Playing in the Surrey Championship could be a game-changer for him, providing a platform to showcase his skills and attract the attention of selectors.

Former Indian cricketers like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara have also ventured into county cricket to enhance their experience. Bharat’s decision echoes this trend, as many players have found that time spent in England can help them grow and develop their game.

In his international career, Bharat received his first call-up in November 2019 but made his debut only in February 2023 against Australia. He has played seven test matches so far, scoring a total of 221 runs, with a top score of 44. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he made a notable impact, scoring 78 not out against Delhi Capitals while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Interestingly, Bharat struggled to attract interest in the recent IPL 2025 mega-auction despite his starting price of ₹75 lakh. His recent performances in the Ranji Trophy showed a glimpse of promise, scoring 19, 41, 52, and 43 in two matches this season with Andhra Pradesh.

Moreover, Bharat played in the World Test Championship final against Australia in 2023, contributing five catches and totaling 28 runs.

Shreyas Iyer, a fellow cricketer, remarked on social media, “Every setback is a setup for a comeback.” Fans seem to share a hopeful sentiment, believing that this stint in England will be the spark Bharat needs to reignite his cricketing career.

As Bharat heads to England, it will be interesting to see if he can make a lasting impact and perhaps pave the way back to the Indian team. For more insights on cricket’s evolving landscape, check out Cricket Australia’s official site for the latest updates and statistics.
