Nominate a business or community group for the annual environmental awards by 5 p.m. on Friday. These awards honor those who are making a real difference in our efforts to protect the environment.
Howard County is focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting energy independence, and preserving our land. County Executive Calvin Ball noted that many local businesses are stepping up in these areas. From minimizing plastic waste to planting trees, their commitment shows how every action counts toward creating a cleaner environment.
This year, two awards will be given out:
- Business Recycling and Waste Reduction Award: Celebrates Howard County businesses that excelled in sustainability efforts throughout 2024.
- Green Community Leadership Award: Recognizes a community group, school, or organization in Howard County that undertakes projects aimed at protecting our natural resources.
Nominations are open to any group, school, or organization based in Howard County, so there’s plenty of room to recognize those making an impact. To submit a nomination, visit www.workgreenhoward.org.
