Cody Gakpo’s participation in Liverpool’s upcoming match against Southampton is uncertain. He missed three days of training due to an ankle issue.

Although Gakpo traveled to Paris for a recent match against PSG, he didn’t make the squad due to his injury, which had worsened before the game.
During the pre-match press conference, Liverpool’s coach, Arne Slot, expressed concern about Gakpo’s fitness. “He didn’t train yesterday, so we’re hoping he can join us today,” he said.
Slot also noted that Gakpo’s injury isn’t serious, but he still felt some pain and couldn’t train. “We’ll see how he feels today. I can’t provide an answer yet,” he added.
In addition to Gakpo, Liverpool will also be without Joe Gomez, who has a hamstring injury, and Tyler Morton, who is suffering from a shoulder issue. However, Conor Bradley is getting closer to recovery and may return soon.
Meanwhile, Slot is considering changes to the lineup after a hard-fought win against PSG. Players like Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, and Darwin Nunez may be included in the squad.
“For me, the match against Southampton is the top priority,” said Slot. He highlighted the significance of the upcoming three games, which also include a crucial decider against PSG and a Carabao Cup final. “Any changes I make will be to increase our chances of winning against Southampton, not to rest players for the next match,” he explained. This shows his commitment to putting together the strongest team possible for this important encounter.
