Lithuania Invests €32 Million in 2025 to Support Ukrainian Education: A Step Towards a Brighter Future

This year, the Lithuanian government will allocate nearly €32 million to support the education of Ukrainian refugees who have settled in the country due to the ongoing war.

According to a report by LRT, the Lithuanian Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports is seeking €4.2 million to cover tuition fees for Ukrainian students and provide additional scholarships.

Moreover, the ministry has requested €28.7 million to support early childhood education and primary and secondary schooling for Ukrainian children in both public and private institutions.

Though the Ministry of Finance initially reduced the funds in its draft proposal, the Cabinet of Ministers ultimately approved the full allocation.

The resources will benefit Ukrainian students who began their studies at Lithuanian universities in the last two years and are continuing in 2023. However, since September of last year, government funding is no longer available for students who completed their schooling in Ukraine. Some universities are still covering costs independently, but options may vary.

Recently, Ukrainian Ambassador Petro Beshta visited Gravitacija, a Ukrainian school in Vilnius. He engaged with both students and educators to learn more about their experiences.
