Macron and Trump Unite: European Leaders Race to Kyiv in Bold Bid to Support Ukraine

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is meeting with officials at the White House. He mentioned the U.K. is prepared to send troops to Ukraine if needed as part of a peace deal.

This week marks three years since Russia invaded Ukraine. As fighting continues, the U.S. is urging for a quick resolution to the conflict.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk emphasized the need for action in a recent post, encouraging European leaders to utilize frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine. He also called for stronger air defenses along Russia’s borders with the EU.

While Tusk engages with other leaders, French President Macron is set to talk with Donald Trump. On the same day, a significant delegation from the European Union will meet in Kyiv to show support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, especially as relations between the White House and Kyiv seem to be shifting.

This EU delegation will include high-ranking officials, such as European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa, along with leaders from Spain and various Nordic and Baltic nations, as well as NATO countries. Their goal is to demonstrate unity in support of Ukraine.

As they prepare for their visit, EU leaders are working on a military aid package for Ukraine, expected to be worth at least €20 billion. The EU’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has urged member states to review their military supplies, focusing on artillery, air defense systems, and training for Ukrainian forces.
