Former Los Angeles police detective Mark Fuhrman has passed away. He was known for his role in the infamous O.J. Simpson murder trial.
Fuhrman was one of the initial detectives called to the scene of the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. He claimed to have found a bloody glove at Simpson’s residence. However, his reliability became a focal point during the trial, especially when issues of racial bias were raised.
In a pivotal moment, Fuhrman denied using racial slurs over the previous decade. Yet, recordings revealed that he had done just that, raising serious questions about his character and professionalism.
He died on May 12, as confirmed by Lynn Acebedo, the chief deputy coroner in Kootenai County, Idaho. The county typically does not disclose the cause of death.
After Simpson’s acquittal in 1995, Fuhrman retired from the LAPD. He later relocated to Idaho with his family. In 1996, he faced perjury charges and pleaded no contest.
