Meet Huey and Solomon, two lovable pets waiting to find their forever homes at the Tuscarawas County Humane Society in New Philadelphia.

Huey is a 13-year-old cat, but you wouldn’t guess it! This big guy tips the scale at 24 pounds and, while he might enjoy his food, he could really use a diet. Despite his size, he’s friendly and enjoys a good scratch behind the ears. He gets along well with the other cats in the shelter and is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and loves to be petted.
Then there’s Solomon, a cheerful 2-year-old mixed breed dog who is all about playtime! Solomon was feeling down after arriving at the shelter, but he is back to his happy, bouncy self now. He’s previously lived in a home and is potty trained, though he’ll need a little reminder when he settles into his new place. Solomon enjoys being around other dogs and can be tested with cats if needed.
Pets like Huey and Solomon are more than just companions; they can bring joy and reduce stress. According to a study by the American Psychological Association, having a pet can lower anxiety and enhance happiness. In fact, surveys show that pet owners often experience lower levels of depression and higher levels of self-esteem.
If you’re interested in meeting these furry friends, remember that the shelter is closed on Thursdays. You can reach them at 330-343-6060 or check out their website at Tuscarawas County Humane Society for more information.
Adopting a pet can change both your life and theirs. So why not give Huey or Solomon a chance to be part of your family?
