Margherita’s expertise covers a wide range of topics in public, private, and international environmental law. Recently, she worked with Friends of the Earth on a new case linked to the Climate Change Act. She also represented Clear the Air in Havering, tackling issues about air pollution. Notably, she was junior counsel in the significant Duarte Agostinho v Portugal and 32 other States case at the European Court of Human Rights, a landmark moment highlighting the intersection of climate change and human rights.

Margherita is currently involved in cases against companies for their contributions to environmental damage, misleading environmental claims, and climate-related harm. She’s leading a groundbreaking OECD complaint about “advertised emissions” and frequently advises NGOs on important climate regulations, such as the EU Deforestation Regulation and trends in the voluntary carbon market.

Her experience isn’t limited to the UK. Margherita has participated in proceedings at the International Court of Justice and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. She was also the first Legal Coordinator for the UNFCCC Climate Champions, working internationally to promote climate accountability.
