Miami Monday: Celebrating the Spirit of Miami University RedHawks!

2026 Hall of Fame Class

Miami University is excited to announce its Hall of Fame Class for 2026. This year, one team and seven individuals will be honored. Inductees include notable names such as Stephanie Danesis (tennis), Bea Dechant (field hockey), and Ron Harper (men’s basketball). They will be celebrated during the weekend of September 25-26.

Academic Achievement

In the classroom, Miami student-athletes have done remarkably well, achieving a collective GPA of 3.35 for the spring semester. This marks the 43rd consecutive semester that RedHawks have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Impressively, 77.6% of student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.0 or above, with 64 athletes earning a perfect 4.0.

Medal of Excellence Award

Two Miami students, Carson Byers (baseball) and Riley Mazzalupi (field hockey), will receive the Medal of Excellence Award. This award recognizes outstanding graduating student-athletes in the Mid-American Conference. The presentation will take place at the Honors Dinner Ceremony in Cleveland, scheduled for May 28.

Track and Field Championships

Six RedHawks will compete in the East First Round of the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lexington, Kentucky, from May 28-30. The athletes representing Miami include Mia Boule, Ella Garvin, Kate Hallie, Tom Heal, Anton Martinez, and Petros Sanchez Ropero.

Updates on Teams

  • Baseball: The team had a standout season, with seven players named to the All-MAC teams. Coach Brian Smiley earned MAC Coach of the Year honors, while Tommy Harrison and Diego Cruz were recognized as Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively.

  • Golf: Miami golf completed its season, finishing in 13th place at the NCAA Bryan Regional, with Cameron Pero leading the team.

  • Soccer: The upcoming 2026 schedule has been released, featuring an exciting home game against LSU on September 6.
