Major League Baseball has taken strong action against two New York Yankees fans. They have been banned indefinitely from all MLB stadiums after an incident involving Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts during Game 4 of the 2024 World Series.
The fans, Austin Capobianco and John P. Hansen, were reported to have interfered with play. According to MLB, they “intentionally and forcefully grabbed” Betts, which posed a serious risk to his health and safety. The league’s letter to the pair stated that their behavior crossed the line of acceptable fan conduct. They are now banned from all MLB events, and any attempt to enter MLB facilities will result in removal and potential arrest.
This incident occurred when a fly ball hit by Gleyber Torres came close to the stands, where the two fans were seated. Betts made an impressive catch, but instead of backing away, the fans continued to engage him, making it seem like they were trying to take the ball from his glove.
After the incident, Capobianco expressed confidence about being back for Game 5, but both he and Hansen were barred from attending that game. The Dodgers eventually clinched the World Series title in a dramatic comeback victory during Game 5.
