Nobody 2 (2025) Movie Review: John Wick Faces a Midlife Crisis—Seeking a Break from Action!

The sequel to the action hit “Nobody” has landed, and it’s just as wild and entertaining as the original. This time, we find Hutch Mansell, played by Bob Odenkirk, back at work and struggling to balance family life. He’s not just an assassin anymore; he’s a dad trying to juggle it all. His wife, Rebecca (Connie Nielsen), is frustrated that he misses dinner and their kids’ events. The story kicks off when Hutch decides to take his family on a vacation to a nostalgic spot from his own childhood.

Christopher Lloyd joins the cast as Hutch’s dad, bringing a fun energy that lightens the mood. The direction by Timo Tjahjanto adds a fresh perspective while keeping the original’s action-packed style. His camera work sometimes veers into shaky territory, but overall, the visuals are striking. The new setting of Plummerville contrasts with the original film’s gritty backdrop, making for a more vibrant experience.

The screenplay mixes old and new elements, with some callbacks that may feel a bit repetitive. Still, it introduces fresh characters like Wyatt (John Ortiz), who offers a deeper look as the story unfolds. The main villain, Lendina (Sharon Stone), has a significant build-up but ultimately isn’t as memorable as hoped.

While the film aims to add emotional stakes—like Hutch worrying about his son becoming like him—it doesn’t quite reach the depth it could. The balance between humor and seriousness occasionally feels off. Yet, Odenkirk and Nielsen shine with great chemistry, and there are still plenty of laughs to be had amidst the action.

Despite its predictability, “Nobody 2” captures the fun of an action film. The scenes are ridiculously enjoyable, like a katana versus machete showdown or Hutch taking down henchmen while on vacation. Viewers often find themselves rooting for Hutch’s quirky attempts to blend family time with his violent skills.
