Office Stars Join Forces: Donating ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ Winnings to Support Philly Food Bank!

Two former stars of The Office, Kate Flannery and Oscar Nuñez, recently won $1 million on the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and have decided to share half of their winnings. They’ll donate $500,000 to assist a Philadelphia food bank.

Flannery chose Philabundance, the largest food bank in the area, while Nuñez selected Planned Parenthood for his share. Flannery expressed that Philabundance feeds not just the hungry but also serves many Philadelphians in need. This donation comes at a crucial time, as food banks in Pennsylvania are bracing for cuts in federal funding while grappling with rising demands.

The trivia question that won them the money was about the Greek origin of the word “planet,” which means “wanderer.” After a few moments of intense deliberation, the duo nailed the answer.

Philabundance took to social media to express gratitude, stating that this money will provide much-needed hope for many families facing hunger.

The Office ran for nine successful seasons, and both Flannery and Nuñez continue to engage with fans and the public through various projects. Recently, Nuñez reprised his role as Oscar in a new spinoff, The Paper, featuring the chaos of a small-town newspaper.

This moment highlights how past celebrities can make significant social impacts through charitable actions, gathering community support and awareness for critical issues like hunger and women’s health.
