HYDERABAD: Olectra Greentech Limited (OGL), a part of the Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL) family, has launched its latest electric buses featuring advanced blade battery technology. This announcement was made during the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi.
The new models include a revamped 12-meter blade battery platform and stylish nine-meter city and 12-meter coach buses. The blade battery, created in partnership with BYD, has passed tough tests like nail penetration and furnace trials, showing no signs of fire or explosion.
The blade battery offers impressive features. It withstands severe weather, is 30% lighter than traditional batteries, and can store 30% more energy. This allows the buses to travel up to 500 km on a single charge. Its compact design enhances vehicle stability and space efficiency.
Compared to standard LFP batteries, the blade battery generates less heat, making it safer and more stable under stress. It also optimizes space within the battery pack by over 50% and can be placed in the bus floor, improving stability with a lower center of gravity.
Olectra’s Chairman and MD KV Pradeep emphasized the company’s commitment to advancing electric mobility. “We aim to enhance our manufacturing and technology capabilities,” he said.
Olectra has also made headlines before by securing a massive order for 5,150 electric buses from MSRTC in Maharashtra. In addition to buses, the company manufactures electric tippers for the construction and mining sectors. Their buses are currently serving in 10 states and one Union territory.
