OPM Plans Special Salary Rate for Law Enforcement Pay Raise
President Trump has proposed a significant pay increase for federal law enforcement personnel. In 2023, the Department of Veterans Affairs introduced a special salary rate for HR staff before the Trump administration removed it.
Additionally, the Trump administration has taken other steps to enhance recruitment in federal law enforcement. They’ve lifted age restrictions for ICE recruits, allowing applicants as young as 18. Signing bonuses of up to $50,000 are also being offered to attract more candidates. With the aid of new funding, the Department of Homeland Security is preparing for a substantial hiring surge in the coming years.
