Pope Francis Enjoys Restful Night as Health Shows Signs of Improvement – Latest Updates from Vatican News

Pope Francis is resting well in Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he is being treated for bilateral pneumonia. On Friday morning, the Holy See Press Office shared that the Pope had a calm night and is continuing with his recovery.

This morning, he enjoyed breakfast and read some newspapers. He remains focused on his treatment, which includes breathing physiotherapy to help improve his condition.

The Vatican also announced that Cardinal Angelo De Donatis will lead the Ash Wednesday liturgy on March 5. This is a significant event in the Catholic calendar, marking the beginning of Lent.

According to a statement from Thursday evening, the Pope’s health is improving but remains complicated. Medical staff are monitoring his condition closely, and the prognosis is still cautious.

As part of his ongoing care, the Pope alternates between high-flow oxygen therapy and using a Ventimask to support his breathing. The hospital team emphasizes that they need to see more days of stability before they can provide a clearer outlook on his recovery.

While at the hospital, he spends time in prayer and received the Eucharist in the chapel of his private apartment. He also continues to engage in work-related tasks as he is able. This balance of rest and activity is essential for his recovery.
