Purdue basketball is gearing up for an exciting challenge with its nonconference schedule. The Boilermakers have announced a home-and-home series with Iowa State starting next season.
This means Purdue will host the Cyclones next year and travel to Ames, Iowa, in the 2026-27 season. This matchup adds to an already tough schedule that includes games against Alabama, Marquette, and a neutral site game versus Auburn in Indianapolis.
Currently, Iowa State has a strong record of 19-5, while Purdue stands at 19-6, heading into a home game against Wisconsin. Historically, Purdue leads the series against Iowa State with a record of 3-2. However, the Boilermakers lost their first-ever meeting with the Cyclones in 1987 at Mackey Arena, where Iowa State triumphed 104-96.
Since then, Purdue has had some notable victories, including winning back-to-back games against Iowa State in neutral sites in 1994 and 1995. They faced Iowa State again in the 2007 Las Vegas Holiday Classic but fell short in the semifinals. More recently, Purdue edged Iowa State 80-76 in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
