PHILADELPHIA — The Quinnipiac women’s track and field team made waves at the 130th Penn Relays held at Franklin Field this past weekend. Competing against top-tier athletes from across the nation, the Bobcats showcased their talent and determination.
The competition kicked off with Sydney Lavelle, who finished 30th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.18. In the 5000m race, Rachel St. Germain led the team, finishing 41st at 16:40.49, followed closely by Zoe Merryman and Madeleine O’Neill.
Friday was a standout day for Quinnipiac. They shattered records in the 4×100 relay and the 100m dash. Additionally, they set a new school record in the Sprint Medley Relay. Nyasia Dailey played a key role, running the 100m in 11.54 seconds to qualify for the finals. She also helped the 4×100 relay team, consisting of Kiera Baxter, Michelle Tota, and Izzie Anzaldo, claim victory in their heat with a remarkable time of 45.07 seconds, breaking both the MAAC and Quinnipiac records.
In a recent tweet highlighting their success, Quinnipiac Track celebrated: “For the second time in as many meets, the 4×100 relay beat the program AND MAAC record! #BobcatNation.”
The 4×400 relay team—Isabella Pistoia, Madelyn Durkee, Claire O’Sullivan, and Tamia Chapman—secured a spot in Saturday’s finals with a new program record of 3:53.20. Their enthusiasm was contagious, culminating in an impressive performance that left fans cheering.
In field events, Talia Graham tied her outdoor pole vault record at 3.75m, while Lauren Fadairo achieved an 11.80m mark on her second attempt.
The finals on Saturday saw all Quinnipiac entries finishing in second place. The 4×100 relay completed their race in 47.30 seconds, just shy of the winning team, La Salle, by 0.29 seconds. Similarly, the 4×400 relay finished 0.44 seconds behind Bryant, while Dailey clocked in at 11.91 seconds, also earning second place in the 100m final.
