Chase Infiniti is making waves in Hollywood, and it’s a journey she hardly dreamed would happen. The 24-year-old from Indianapolis is breaking through with her role as Willa Ferguson in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film, “One Battle After Another.” Her character, a teenager balancing family legacy with personal growth, faces the return of past enemies.

Chase sees Willa as a blend of Paul’s writing and her own experiences. She explains, “It’s half Paul and half me.”

Chase’s path to success wasn’t always clear. After studying musical theater at Columbia College in Chicago, she struggled to find roles in school plays. Instead, she gained experience in summer stock and community theaters. “I would have been happy with just one line in a movie,” she recalls with a smile.

As she steps into Hollywood, Chase shares her journey more openly. She spoke about her experience on the season 12 premiere of the Variety Awards Circuit Podcast.

Interestingly, her name is inspired by Nicole Kidman’s character Chase Meridian from “Batman Forever” and Pixar’s “Toy Story.” It seems fitting for someone entering the spotlight.

In “One Battle After Another,” Willa stands out as a unique character. Armed with a purple belt in martial arts, she’s assertive without being arrogant. Chase describes her as hopeful, representing the possibility of a brighter future.

To prepare for the role, Chase traveled to Eureka, California, with Anderson and Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays her father. “Meeting people there helped me understand Willa’s world,” she notes.

Chase shares the screen with notable stars like Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and Sean Penn. A standout moment involves a tense DNA test scene with Penn, where she learned the art of reactive acting. “It was like sparring,” she recalls, noting how Anderson encouraged them to embrace their natural reactions.

She admires the performances of Hall and Taylor, praising Hall for adding depth to her role and Taylor for enriching her character, Perfidia.

Though she’s now working alongside Hollywood legends, Chase admits the experience is surreal. “Half of me thinks I belong here, while the other half wonders how I got here,” she shares. Her parents are equally proud, with her mother getting emotional whenever she sees the film’s trailer.

As for future projects, Chase dreams of collaborating with directors like Greta Gerwig or Steven Spielberg. She’s also passionate about musicals, hoping to play Natasha in a potential film adaptation of “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.”

Reflecting on her journey, Chase suggests to her younger self, “You have nothing to prove, but everything to show.”

In today’s entertainment landscape, new faces are reshaping the industry. The rising prominence of streaming platforms allows fresh talent to emerge, making stories more diverse and inclusive. According to a recent study by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film, women’s representation in film roles has seen slight improvements, inspiring young actors like Chase to dream big.
