Leach’s journey began during the pandemic while he was looking for a way to stay busy. He started a pop-up restaurant called Atomic Biscuit and Burger Company, whipping up smash burgers at home. The first event sold out, which sparked the idea for a full-time restaurant. “I presented a full business plan to my wife, and she said, ‘Let’s go for it,’” he recalls.

Atomic Kitchen immerses visitors in the charm of the ‘80s. From Slimer, the ghost from “Ghostbusters,” to replicas inspired by Indiana Jones, the place is a visual feast. Vintage arcade games, including Pac-Man, line the bar, bringing back fond memories of simpler times. Best of all? The arcade games are free to play!

The menu celebrates the decade too. Each item features quirky names inspired by pop culture. For example, try “The Axel Fowley,” a fried chicken sandwich, or “Romancing the Rings,” a fun onion ring appetizer. Every dish is made fresh, not frozen. Leach emphasizes, “There’s passion behind all the ingredients.”

As for drinks, patrons can enjoy classics like Hamm’s Beer and Pabst Blue Ribbon at throwback prices—just $2 for a 16-ounce can. With a playlist of popular ‘80s hits over 24 hours long, the atmosphere is lively and inviting.

Leach proudly shares that the early feedback has been fantastic. “It’s been overwhelming,” he says. “We have customers returning multiple times in just a week and a half.” Indeed, the place has struck a chord with the community, merging great food with a healthy dose of nostalgia.

The grand opening weekend on June 27-28 promises exciting activities, including a replica of Marty McFly’s truck and a car show featuring the Honda Del Sol Car Club.
