Google is rolling out a fresh look for its Phone app on Pixel devices, and some users are already getting the chance to try it out. This makeover is part of their Material 3 Expressive design approach.
What’s new?
Firstly, there’s a Favorites bar. This makes it simpler to reach your most important contacts. Instead of hunting through menus, you can just tap to call.
Next, the Call Log has been revamped. Instead of seeing all calls from the same person grouped together, you’ll find a straightforward list. This change helps you see your call history in one glance, making it easier to track missed or answered calls without clicking through each contact.
Another interesting update is the Call Answer/Decline Gesture. Trying out a swipe motion to answer or decline calls, Google aims to prevent those awkward moments when you accidentally decline a call while pulling your phone from your pocket. Feedback from users suggests this method is more intuitive and user-friendly.
If you have a Pixel and are part of the QPR1 beta, you may already notice these changes. However, if you stick to regular updates, it might take a bit longer for you to see this new look.
Users on the beta have reported smooth experiences with these updates, noting that the Material 3 Expressive features really enhance usability.
Moreover, as technology evolves, more companies are focusing on user experience. A recent survey highlighted that 74% of users prefer interfaces that are simple and easy to navigate. This reflects a growing trend in tech where businesses prioritize user feedback and design for better accessibility.
