Greeneye Technology is set to introduce its innovative precision spraying technology to cotton farming in 2025.
This move comes after thorough research and field trials last year aimed at adapting the Greeneye system for cotton, following its success with corn and soybean crops.
Cotton farmers struggle with persistent weed issues. Greeneye’s AI-driven system targets weeds precisely, using real-time, sub-millimeter accuracy. This method cuts down on herbicide use, reduces costs, and improves weed control, whether applied before or after crops emerge.

The Greeneye system is designed to easily fit existing commercial sprayers, regardless of their make or model. This means farmers won’t need to buy expensive new equipment. It can perform both precision and broadcast spraying at the same time, making operations more efficient while following best agricultural practices.
During the 2024 trials, the system captured hundreds of thousands of images of cotton and common weeds. These images helped train its unique AI to identify and differentiate between the two at various growth stages, even in changing weather conditions. As a result, the Greeneye system can accurately target weeds while traveling up to 15 mph.
Greeneye has sold multiple units to cotton farmers in the U.S., who will start using the technology in the 2025 season. One of these farmers, Dudley Pohnert from Texas, manages about 8,000 acres of cotton, corn, milo, and wheat.
“By upgrading our John Deere sprayer with the Greeneye system, we’ll be able to spray more often, even at night or during dusty conditions,” Pohnert explains. “This is crucial for addressing storms that often hit in June. We anticipate reducing our annual herbicide use by 25-40%, and we expect to see a return on our investment in two to three seasons.”
“The one-time cost and lack of ongoing fees also influenced our decision,” he adds. “I value owning what I purchase.”
“Greeneye is changing the game for weed control in the U.S. with our advanced precision spraying technology. It offers substantial cost savings, improved effectiveness, and enhanced sustainability,” says Nadav Bocher, CEO of Greeneye Technology. “Weed control is a major challenge for cotton growers, who often need to spray frequently. We are eager to bring the benefits of Greeneye’s precision system to cotton farmers across the U.S.”
