Rochester, N.Y. — Good Life Collective, the city’s first licensed cannabis dispensary, is making a difference in the community. On November 1, they launched a food pantry to help families facing food insecurity, especially during these challenging times.
In just over two weeks, the pantry collected over 1,000 donations to support local families struggling with rising costs. Co-owner Jamel Young shared, “With everything going on in society, we wanted to ensure everyone has a meal.” Every Friday, the dispensary opens its doors for food pickups, making sure families are taken care of this holiday season.
The pantry is available every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations can be dropped off daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. They welcome a variety of items, including:
– Bottled water and juice boxes
– Canned goods like vegetables and fruits
– Pasta, rice, and boxed meals
– Baby formula and food
– Cleaning supplies and toiletries
This initiative is part of a broader trend where businesses step up to support local communities. According to a recent survey by the Food Research & Action Center, nearly 1 in 10 households in the U.S. faced food insecurity in 2022, a number that increased due to rising food prices.
