Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Viswanath, has raised serious concerns about how the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is treating his son. He believes there’s a deliberate plan to undermine Sanju, especially after the wicket-keeper batter was excluded from the Kerala squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Viswanath’s worries intensified when he discovered that Sanju missed a required training camp, which contributed to the decision to leave him out.

This isn’t the first time frustrations have boiled over. After Sanju wasn’t picked for India’s ODI squad against England or the Champions Trophy, KCA President Jayesh George criticized him publicly, suggesting that Sanju only had himself to blame for not attending the camp. Viswanath felt that this public rebuke was unfair and damaging to his son’s reputation.
Viswanath has criticized certain people within the KCA, claiming they are trying to use Sanju as a scapegoat. He fears that their actions will tarnish his son’s image and hopes other cricket associations will offer Sanju a chance to play elsewhere. He mentioned, “I knew about six months ago that they were planning something against Sanju. We couldn’t fight with them. They will blame Sanju for everything, and people will believe them.” He expressed a strong desire for his son to leave Kerala cricket altogether and is open to any state that would welcome Sanju.
Samson Viswanath, a retired footballer and former police constable, believes that if other cricket boards extend an opportunity to Sanju, they would gladly relocate. He emphasized that his son has dedicated thirty years to cricket, and it’s disheartening to see him isolated from the sport he loves. Viswanath’s passion and protectiveness for his son’s career are evident, and he hopes for a brighter future outside of the KCA’s shadows.
