SANTA CLARA, Calif. – On a warm Tuesday, Santa Clara’s softball team faced off against Fresno State in a tough doubleheader at the Santa Clara University Softball Stadium. Unfortunately for the Broncos, the Bulldogs took both games, winning 8-4 and 5-3.
Game 1: Fresno State 8 – Santa Clara 4
Fresno State jumped to an impressive start, scoring four times in the first inning. They continued strong with two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, establishing an 8-0 lead. The Broncos rallied in the fifth, thanks to a bases-clearing triple from Hope Alley, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Hannah Ortega and Keyannah Pu’a of Fresno State held Santa Clara’s offense at bay, allowing only six hits throughout the game. Ortega picked up the win, improving her record to 3-0. Game 2: Fresno State 5 – Santa Clara 3 (10 innings)
